Deep Magic Dragons & Talking Mice

Bought this book as a favour to a friend as I was going to a christian bookshop. My first thought was what sort of title was it ' deep magic dragons & talking mice?' But it turns out to be a snappy taste of some of the more impactful ideas of C.S. Lewis. One of C.S. Lewis strengths is explaining complex terms in every day analogies and this further simplifies it to the reader.

1.The grand panorama:C.S. Lewis on the meaning of life
Christian is a lens to understand the world, gives meaning
2.Old friends to trust: C.S. Lewis on Friendship
3.A story shaped world: C.S. Lewis on the importance on Narnia and the importance of stories
4.The Lord and the lion:C.S. Lewis on Aslan and the Christian life
5.Talking about faith:C.S. Lewis on the art of apologetics
6.A love of learning: C.S. Lewis on Education
7. Coping with Suffering: C.S. Lewis on the problem of pain
Pain is only problematic for christians because if the universe is meaningless then pain is meaningless. Love is more than what makes us happy, potter clay, man and beast, father and son, man and woman. Real love is transformative. points to the cross as suffering is something that God saw as a means to perfect creation. pain and suffering is a mystery, while christianity is like a light and a lens, there are still some shadows. Reflecting on the crucified Christ, God entered the world to bear suffering.
8. Further up and further in: C.S. Lewis on hope and heaven
