The Truth of God's Chatisement

Hebrews 12:7-11 NKJV

 ⁷ If^[a] you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? ⁸ But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? ¹⁰ For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. ¹¹ Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Why do we need discipline?
because we take our eyes of Jesus?

What is the outcome of discipline? 
' it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who are trained by it'.
discipline does not give you righteousness, discipline brings out the fruit of your right standing with God. Discipline teaches you to partake of God's holiness. 
rest from adversity. 
when you are struggling with sin in an area: e.g.way ward eyes.

Need grace to recognise your sin.

Lord Jesus as you are my righteousness, ( partake of His holiness), I claim You as my sanctification, my holiness even in this area.

How does God Chastens?
 ¹²Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
 ¹³That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked

First way that God chastens is through the word.
- Most of the time people who need discipline don't listen to sermons, don't read his words.

Other ways, Circumstances/ppl.
He doesn't chasten with adversity, disease sickness loss of love one.. your earthly father doesn't teach you that fire is hot by putting your hand on the fire. By His stripes we are healed.


Psalm 108: 9
every time Israel got proud, God uses Moabs to wash you.
slow drivers are your Moabs.sources of frustrated.
your sin is washed but God washes your outward mannerism.

Ask God, why do i get frustrated over and over again with this. what are you trying to tell me?
Insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results.

 ²³ “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive

1 Corinthian 6:12 
 ¹² “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.
